Boston TerrierDescription: The Boston Terrier is a compact and well-muscled dog with a distinct face. It has a short muzzle, and the eyes are round and large and the ears are small and standing high. The head is broad and flat without any wrinkles. The neck is slightly arched and the chest is broad. The limbs are straight, also well-muscled.

Dynamics: The Boston Terrier may look like it’s in for a fight but it is actually gentle and well-mannered. It is very intelligent and alert. The Boston Terrier was actually bred to be used in dog fights but today is more valued as a pet and companion.

The Boston Terrier is an enthusiastic dog coupled with a sense of humor. It has an intelligence that makes them able to pick things up quickly. This breed is also very sensitive to one’s voice and tone. It makes a good watchdog and bark only when necessary.

The Boston Terrier is also playful. It is good with elderly people, friendly with strangers, and will do well with children. It can also get along well with noncanine pets, although some males may be dominant and fight with other dogs.

Country of Origin: The Boston Terrier was bred in the 1880s exactly where it is named to be from – Boston, USA. In actuality, the original Boston Terrier was a cross between the English Bulldog and the now extinct English White Terrier.

Activities: The Boston Terrier needs a daily walk and plenty of play sessions.

Grooming: Grooming the Boston Terrier is very easy, thanks to its short and smooth coat. Comb and brush with a bristle brush and bathe only when necessary. Clean the prominent eyes carefully and clip the nails occasionally.

Other Info: The Boston Terrier’s life expectancy is about 15 years or more. This breed may experience some breathing difficulties when it is stressed by exertion. It can also overheat if it is pushed too hard. The breed also has a tendency to snore or drool. Health concerns also include heart and skin tumors, which are common for Boston Terriers. The eyes are also prone to injury. A badly bred Boston Terrier may suffer from a bone defect in the skull that can affect brain growth.

Boston Terriers are good for apartment life. It will do great in the country too. They are not very active indoors and has to be taken outdoors for walks and exercises. Make sure that it doesn’t suffer from extreme hot or cold weather though.
