Miniature Pinscher

AKA: Mini Pin, Reh Pinscher, Zwergpinscherminiature pinscher

Description: The Miniature Pinscher is a small breed yet, compact, muscular, sleek dog and a very athletic dog. The front legs are straight and the dewclaws removed. The feet are small and catlike. They have a strong and a good proportion muzzle compared to other dogs. Its teeth should meet in a scissors bite. Their dark bright eyes are oval. Its ears can be folded and the tail is always docked. It appears naturally well-groomed and self-possessed. The coat is closing fitting, short and easy to care that usually comes in red, but may also be black & tan or chocolate.

Temperament: The Miniature Pinscher is a very demanding and headstrong breed. But also an alert, and fun-loving dog with courage, spirit and enthusiasm in everything that he do. They could be difficult to control and train so an experienced in dog ownership and training will best suit them. But they could be loyal to their masters as long as the owner should be assertive and confident with a positive training manner. Moreover, They could bark and raise an alarm that could make them an effective watchdog. They are an intelligent, lively and brave breed. Just like a big dog in a little dog’s body. They are moderately protective and can be aggressive with other dogs. And could get along well with other dogs as well as with children provided the children do not pester. And they are suspicios towards strangers but then their behavior entirely depends on how they were brought when they were on their younger stage.The Miniature Pinscher can learn extremely well and wants very much to do so. It is certainly beneficial for its socialization to take the dog to puppy courses where it can meet other dogs and people.

Activity: This breed has a very high energy level, they are good for indoors. They always love to play and exercise and a some short walks daily would be enough for them thus, they consider living in an apartment. Moreover, they are also good in climbing so owners would always secure the place for their safety.

Grooming: The Miniature Pinscher does not really require that much grooming since they only have short hair not like other breeds. An occasional brush and wipe over with just a damp cloth will keep his coat sleek and shiny. And owners may not worry too much because this breed are low shedders.

Health Problems: The life expectancy of the Miniature Pinscher is around 13-15 years. They are a healthy and robust breed, but here are some of their health problems to look out for: luxating patella, Legg Perthes, skin problems, cataracts.
